Reflective study attempts to eliminate sensibility, return to the origin, and take a gaze at itself. It is the most active and critical research model that contains great potential for thought. It not only aims to “look back”, but also embodies a questioning attitude toward the possibility of its own existence. Reflective study is the product of high-level theoretical self-awareness. The fundamental subjects of reflective study include the possibility of theoretical research, the limits of theoretical exploration, and the defender of the legitimacy of theoretical research. Reflective study is also an innate requirement derived from the characteristics and purports of the humanities. The care for the value of individual or particular fact of the humanities naturally requires a reflective stance as a way of theoretical presence. The generative mechanism of knowledge models, also known as the epistemological perspective or épistémè, is question-based and interdisciplinary. The reflective study of literary theory based on epistemological models should aim to reveal the epistemological standpoint of different literary theories, in order to form its own perspectives, ideas and discourse through observing various literary and cultural issues, while discarding the confusion of opinion expression, empirical induction, and “ism” arguments.
