Abstract
This essay focuses on the issue of aesthetic community in contemporary critical theories, which engages such problems as consensus and difference, subjectification and de-subjectification, border and borderlessness and the criticism of aesthetic community. Through analyses of the aesthetic and perceptual dimensions of the community, contemporary critical theorists construct an aesthetic community paradigm featured by inclusion of differences, de-subjectivization, borderlessness, insubstantiality and fluidity. Contemporary critical theories manifest distinct characteristics of practical intervention and criticism; however, their intervention into specific issues in reality is often limited at the theoretical and philosophical levels.
