Abstract
Different from left-wing literature and art, which mainly highlighted literary and artistic thought through theoretical articles, the literary and artistic thought in Soviet areas were presented in two more indirect ways: manifested in various documents such as policies, resolutions, rules, and regulations, and embodied in organized literary and artistic practices and activities. In Soviet areas, literary and artistic practices and activities widely existed as an extreme form of literary and artistic theory. The theory of literature and art in Soviet areas had a deep, close connection with Mao Zedong's “Talk at the Yan-an Conference on Literary and Art”, and formed an important basis for the generation of the “Talk”. This was reflected in the affirmation of the literary and artistic thought in Soviet areas in the “Talk”, such as the direction of workers, peasants and soldiers in literature and art and the way to achieve this direction, the service of literature and art to politics, and the standards of literary and artistic critique. It was also reflected in some problematic literary and artistic styles from the urban areas criticized by the “Talk”.
