Abstract

As Chinese culture is going global and Chinese literature is spreading overseas, the history of modern Chinese literature should reconsider the national identity of languages. In other words, foreign language writing by overseas Chinese needs to be included while studying the history of modern Chinese literature. The historical and practical significance of “gradual introduction of Chinese learning into the West” that these literary works have needs to be thoroughly reviewed. Based on such a premise, “global” China is China that “spreads” globally. In view of the current times as well as the future, the “re-rewriting” of literary history from the perspective of China’s overseas spread needs to adhere to the “native” principles of sovereignty and territory integrality, and, at the same time, effectively integrate overseas Chinese literature, focusing particularly on the “overseas” perspective of foreign language literature produced by the Chinese as well as its intercultural and cosmopolitan features.
