Abstract
This paper starts with a survey of the major achievements of international Bakhtin studies in the 21st century, and summarizes that Bakhtinian theory as an academic fad is no longer en vogue. However, the theoretical radiation of his theory has entered a state of "the new normal" in its cross-cultural journey, which shows in the scholarly exchange in scholarly academic circle and the regular International Bakhtin Conference. In particular, scholars from Russian Academy of Sciences have been annotating and commenting Bakthin's oeuvre in detail and conducting in-depth explorations into Bakhtin's theoretical heritage. Internationally, Bakhtin's works have been published in different languages as individual works, anthologies, or complete collections. The paper describes the new advancement of Bakhtin studies in three aspects: the interpretation and appropriation of Bakhtinian theory as reflected in the past six International Bakhtin Conferences, the explorations and annotations of Bakhtin's texts as reflected in the six-volume Collected Works of Bakhtin in Russian, and the international advancements as reflected in critical essays selected in the four volumes of Bakhtin Studies.
